A New Chapter for Florist Corner: From My Little Home Studio to Malvern East

Some spaces become so much more than just a place to work. They become part of your story.

For me, my little home studio in Mount Waverley was exactly that.

It was a place where I could create, decompress and spend a little time with myself. Somewhere to reflect, think, dream and find inspiration, usually with a bunch of flowers in front of me and a coffee close by.

But more than anything, it was a place where I got to connect with my customers and, through flowers, become a small part of some of life's most meaningful moments.

A birthday surprise. An anniversary. A thank-you to someone special. A little gesture of love, comfort or encouragement when words weren't quite enough.

I would create something with my hands, wrap it carefully, and send it off knowing that it would soon become part of someone else's story. And I think that's what I've always loved most about being a florist. It's not just about the flowers themselves, but what they come to mean to the person receiving them.

Looking back, I'm incredibly grateful for all the beautiful moments that passed through this little studio. The lovely conversations, familiar faces, returning customers and the trust people placed in me to create something special for someone they cared about.

It was never just a workspace. It was a big part of my Florist Corner journey.

Mount Waverley home studio

Leaving the home studio was a little bittersweet.

There were so many memories attached to that space, and so many flowers created there. It had been a place where I could pour my creativity into my work while building something of my own, one bouquet at a time.

Running a small business has its share of challenges, of course. There are long days, plenty of behind-the-scenes work and moments when you wonder how you'll fit everything into the day. But there is also so much joy in doing something you love and watching it grow into something meaningful.

That little studio held all of it, the excitement, the hard work, the learning curves and the quiet satisfaction of creating something beautiful.

So, while saying goodbye wasn't entirely easy, I knew it was time to take the next step.

And that step led me to Malvern East.

A new space, a fresh beginning

Moving into a new studio has been exciting, a little overwhelming and, at times, a case of wondering what on earth I've gotten myself into!

There have been plenty of ideas running through my head, things to organise, decisions to make and little details to figure out. And no, there hasn't been a glamorous before-and-after reveal or a perfectly finished space waiting to be photographed.

It's very much a work in progress.

But perhaps that's what makes this new chapter exciting. I have the opportunity to build a space that can grow naturally with Florist Corner, a space that reflects who I am, how I work and what I want this little business to become.

My hope is to create somewhere warm, welcoming and comfortable. A place where you can pop in, have a chat, talk about the flowers you're after and find something thoughtful for the people and moments that matter to you.

I want it to feel personal, not intimidating. A place where ordering flowers feels less like a transaction and more like having a conversation with your local florist about what you'd love to create.

There is still plenty to do, and I'm sure there will be a few unexpected twists along the way. But I'm looking forward to seeing how the space evolves, one little improvement at a time.

And rather than wait until everything is perfect, I'd love to share a little of that journey with you as it unfolds. The progress, the messy bits, the ideas that come together and perhaps a few moments fuelled by nothing but adrenaline and coffee. ☕️

The address is changing, but the heart stays the same

One thing I know for certain is that, while the space may be changing, the heart of Florist Corner remains the same.

I'm still here, creating fresh, premium, custom-made floral designs with the same care and thought I put into every bouquet. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, sending flowers just because, expressing sympathy or simply wanting to brighten someone's day, I want every arrangement to feel personal and considered.

Florist Corner has always been about more than making beautiful bouquets. It's about helping people express something through flowers — love, gratitude, appreciation, celebration or simply the feeling of letting someone know they're being thought of.

And that will continue to be at the heart of everything I do.

I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported Florist Corner along the way, from those who first found me through my little home studio to the customers who have continued to order, recommend my work and encourage me as the business grows.

Every order, every kind message and every returning customer has helped bring me to this next chapter. I don't take any of that for granted.

So, here's to new beginnings, a new space and plenty more flowers to come.

I'd love to welcome you to the new Florist Corner studio in Malvern East. We're at 600 Waverley Road, Malvern East, just around the corner on Bowen Street.

The doors are open, so feel free to pop in and say hello. Whether you're coming in to order flowers, have a chat or simply see what we're up to, I'd love to see you.

Thank you for being part of the journey so far. I can't wait to see what we create together in this next chapter.

With love,

Jina
