A beautiful two-week experience among blooms, great coffee, fresh produce, and friendly faces

Earlier this month, Florist Corner bloomed beyond the studio in Mount Waverley with our very first pop-up store in Box Hill South, right on the corner of Elgar Road and Riversdale Road. The pop-up was a wonderful collaboration with our friends at Wattle Park Green Grocer, who are known for their organic produce and local pantry goods.

Over the two weeks, our little corner became a space filled with flowers, conversations, and community warmth. It was such a lovely change to step out of the studio and into a shopfront, meeting so many locals face-to-face, from regulars grabbing their morning coffee to families heading to Wattle Park for a picnic.

A special corner in the interchange of Box Hill South, Surry Hill

Our pop-up was perfectly placed in the Wattle Park Shopping Village — a charming local strip on Elgar Road surrounded by leafy streets and friendly businesses. This part of Box Hill South sits right between Surrey Hills, Box Hill South, Box Hill and it's surrounding suburbs of Mont Albert, Canterbury, Burwood and Blackburn on one side, Glen Iris and Ashburton making it an ideal hub for local foot traffic and same-day flower deliveries.

The local community is truly what makes this area so special, a close-knit mix of young families, professionals, and long-time residents who genuinely value quality, authenticity, and supporting small businesses. It was beautiful to see how many people stopped by to support local, often greeting business owners by name. There’s a lovely sense of familiarity here, where genuine connections are built over small moments and friendly chats, something you can really feel in Wattle Park Shopping .

Local favourites we loved collaborating with

During the pop-up, we had the pleasure of meeting and connecting with other small businesses that make this area shine.

  • Wattle Park Green Grocer – Our pop-up hosts and friends. Their beautiful selection of organic produce complemented our florals perfectly, fresh flowers and fresh fruit truly are a dream combo and all the range in floral design at the moment.

  • Paperboy Surry Hills – Without question, the best coffee in the area. Many of our mornings started with a piccolo with a dash of honey in hand, perfectly made by one of their friendly team members Paperboy Coffee. I also learned that they source and roast their own coffee beans for use in their cafes, which probably explains why their coffee tastes so good! If you’re a coffee lover like me and always on the lookout for great locally roasted beans to brew at home, definitely give Born & Raised coffee a go.

  • Cooper Hill Real Estate – Just down the road, the friendliest real estate team. We often borrowed their beautiful coloured dark indigo wall to take our flower product shots, like our Floral Hatbox.

  • Wattle Park Chalet – Just across the road from our pop-up store sits the Wattle Park Chalet,  one of Melbourne’s most charming heritage wedding venues. Surrounded by 137 acres of natural parkland, the Chalet offers a romantic, timeless setting for weddings and celebrations, complete with high ceilings, timber beams, and garden views that feel like a countryside escape right in the heart of the eastern suburbs.

Each season brings its own unique charm to weddings at Wattle Park, from the soft pastels and blossom-lined paths of spring to the rich, warm tones of autumn leaves that frame the park perfectly for photos. Many couples choose to hold their ceremony outdoors beneath the trees and their reception inside the historic Chalet, making it an idyllic spot for wedding flowers in Box Hill South and bespoke floral styling that reflects the beauty of the season.

Being just steps away from such a beloved venue, it’s always a joy to design flowers for couples celebrating right here in Wattle Park, where nature, heritage and love all come together in the most beautiful way.

Together, these local gems created such a positive, community-driven atmosphere that made our first Florist Corner pop-up store unforgettable.

Reflecting on the pop-up experience

Being in a retail space again, after spending so much time creating behind the scenes in the studio, reminded me why I started Florist Corner in the first place. There’s something special about watching someone’s face light up when they see their bouquet in person, or hearing stories about who the flowers are for.

I really enjoyed every minute, from styling the daily bouquets to chatting with locals about upcoming weddings, birthdays, and even spontaneous “just because” moments. It’s experiences like these that reaffirm how flowers connect people in the simplest yet most meaningful ways.

Continuing to serve our local communities

While the pop-up has now wrapped up, Florist Corner continues to offer same-day flower delivery across Box Hill, Box Hill South, Surrey Hills, Mont Albert, Canterbury, Burwood, and Blackburn. Our online store is always open at floristcorner.com.au, with beautifully curated seasonal bouquets available for every occasion, from everyday blooms to weddings and corporate florals.

We’re already looking forward to more community collaborations and future pop-ups. Until then, thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared a smile, and supported our little Florist Corner.
